Police have arrested Md. Apu Islam Sheikh, President of the Kotchandpur Municipal Chhatra League in Jhenaidah. He was arrested on Saturday (September 12) at noon from the area adjacent to the fish market in the Kotchandpur municipal area, and was sent to jail by court order in the afternoon.

According to police, acting on confidential information, a special team from Kotchandpur Model Police Station conducted a drive in the fish market area and arrested Apu Islam. Following initial processing and legal procedures, he was produced before the court, and subsequently sent to the district jail by order of the judge.

The police did not provide any clear explanation regarding the specific case or charges under which he was arrested, and attempts to contact responsible officials at the Kotchandpur Model Police Station for details were met with no immediate comments. 

The sudden news of the Municipal Chhatra League president's arrest has created widespread sensation and discussion in local political circles.
