Middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy is fully prepared to feature in Bangladesh's Test squad, according to Bangladesh 'A' team head coach Mizanur Rahman Babul. The coach's endorsement comes following Hridoy's historic 350-run marathon innings during a recent 'A' team tour in South Africa.

While Hridoy has been a regular presence in white-ball cricket over the past three years, his transition to the longest format saw a modest start earlier this year. However, his record-breaking 350-run knock for Bangladesh 'A' against South Africa 'A' in Potchefstroom has placed him squarely in contention for an expanded role in the senior Test line-up.

Speaking on Hridoy's readiness, Coach Mizanur Rahman Babul highlighted the team's need for emerging leaders as senior players phase out.

"The BCB has been keen on integrating him into the Test format for a while now, especially as several senior players are no longer in the side and others need to step up," Babul said. "In my view, Hridoy is already prepared for the national team's Test setup."

Babul particularly commended Hridoy's physical endurance and mental application during his marathon batting display.

"What stood out to me was his intense focus and determination. Batting across three consecutive days, through so many sessions, his physical fitness, running between the wickets, and unyielding hunger for runs remained consistent until the very end of his innings," the coach noted.

Explaining the factors behind Hridoy's success on South African soil, Babul pointed to familiar conditions and fond memories at the venue. The pitch offered conditions reminiscent of Bangladeshi wickets, and the ground held historic significance for Hridoy, who was part of Bangladesh's U-19 World Cup-winning squad at the same venue.

"It wasn't just luck; the pitch offered a familiar feel, and Hridoy won the World Cup at that very ground," Babul added. "His existing rapport and comfort with the venue certainly contributed to such a refined performance."
