State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir visited the residence of actress Azmeri Haque Badhon on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to express solidarity following an attack targeting her and her family during the Venice International Film Festival in Italy.

Badhon disclosed the visit through a social media statement on Tuesday (September 15) evening, expressing gratitude for the state's prompt outreach.

"Honorable State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Humayun Kabir visited our home on behalf of Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to check on me and my family," Badhon wrote. "I am deeply honored and grateful for his sincerity, courtesy, and sense of responsibility. During this difficult time, the state standing by us has reassured me personally and strengthened my confidence as a citizen."

The actress noted that the government's response highlights the core duty of a democratic state in safeguarding the dignity and security of its citizens.

Badhon also extended her appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bangladesh Embassy in Italy, Italian local authorities, and law enforcement agencies for providing assistance following the incident, which involved activists associated with the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and the Awami League.

"Differences of opinion may exist, but there can be no compromise regarding a citizen's security, dignity, and rights," Badhon added. "Our collective responsibility is to build a safe, dignified, democratic, and humane Bangladesh."
