Internal factionalism within the BNP has taken a new turn over the ongoing movement demanding the establishment of the Shariatpur Agricultural University near the district town. A wave of discussion and criticism has swept through local political circles after a video surfaced on social media showing District Swechchhasebak Dal President Aminur Rahman Aman Madabor threatening Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Mahabub Morshed Tipu Madabor with "removing his head from his neck."
Aman Madabor issued this threat while addressing a protest program organized against Tipu Madabor on the premises of the Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner's office on Sunday (November 1) morning. Leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations were present by his side during the speech.
In the viral video circulating on social media, Aman Madabor can be seen addressing journalists. At one point in his speech, he stated that they staged a protest and road blockade to protest derogatory remarks made against National Parliament Whip and MP for Shariatpur-3, Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, demanding the immediate expulsion and arrest of the accused individual.
Aman Madabor further stated that district BNP leaders had requested them to lift the road blockade, assuring that the accused would be expelled from the party and arrested within a day or two. Issuing a stern warning thereafter, he declared that if any conspiracy is hatched against Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, whoever is involved—no matter how powerful they may be—will have their head removed from their neck and will be declared persona non grata in Shariatpur.
According to sources, on October 28, a protest procession and rally were organized under the leadership of Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Mahabub Morshed Tipu Madabor, demanding that the Shariatpur Agricultural University campus be established near the district town. Following that program, a faction of BNP leaders and activists alleged that derogatory comments had been made against National Parliament Whip Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu.
In protest, on Sunday morning (November 1), leaders and activists from a faction of the District Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal brought out a protest procession from in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office. Later, they blockaded the town's main road, demanding the expulsion and arrest of Tipu Madabor. The protesters also submitted a memorandum to District BNP General Secretary Sardar AKM Nasir Uddin Kalu.

Raising the issue of the burning of his photographs and the threats directed at him, Tipu Madabor said that his effigies were being manufactured and burned in various places, alongside threats to decapitate him. He claimed that had he not been present over the last 17 years, no one would have dared to bring out a procession in Shariatpur town.
Recalling the political program marking the party's founding anniversary in 2018, Tipu Madabor asserted that during that period, fears of attacks and arson loomed over the residences of Shafiqur Rahman Kiron, Sayed Ahmed Aslam, and Kalu Sardar. He claimed to have bravely handled the situation and protected them. Noting that a major portion of his life has been spent in political struggle, he warned that no one should issue war threats against him.
Tipu Madabor further stated that he desires the Shariatpur Agricultural University to be established in the heart of the town, emphasizing that he has no personal agenda behind this demand.
When contacted regarding the matter, District Swechchhasebak Dal President Aminur Rahman Aman Madabor denied the allegations, stating, "I did not make such statements. Listen to it carefully." He then disconnected the call.
On the other hand, addressing the threat video, Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Mahabub Morshed Tipu Madabor stated that he has watched the video containing the threats directed at him, adding that he will decide on taking legal steps regarding the incident.
The movement over determining the campus location has triggered opposing stances among BNP activists, and the public threat has generated fresh tension and anxiety within the local political landscape.
