Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh and widely known as Pir Saheb Charmonai, stated on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) that the government has completely failed to curb escalating social lawlessness, including extortion, terrorism, corruption, plunder, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings.
Addressing a ward representatives' conference organized jointly by the party’s Dhaka City North and South units as chief guest, Rezaul Karim asserted that successive political regimes have disappointed public expectations despite repeated popular uprisings. Party Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman noted that while top party leaders played front-line roles during the July mass uprising, post-August 5 political realities still reflect pervasive extortion and deception, accusing the BNP government of procrastination regarding the 'July Charter'. Party leaders, including Dhaka South President Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf and Dhaka North President Atiqur Rahman Mujahid, urged grassroots activists across all city wards to mobilize public support for Sharia-based governance and outlined plans to transform Dhaka into a modern, smart metropolis if elected.
