Mohammad Elias Uddin, a prominent figure from Sherpur's Char region and former chairman of the Sadar Upazila Parishad, has officially returned to the Jatiya Party.

Following the directives of Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader and Secretary General Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary, Elias Uddin—who also serves as an advisor to the party chairman—has been appointed as the Convener of the Mymensingh Divisional Coordination Committee's assigned organizing body for the Sherpur and Jamalpur districts, ending a long period of inactivity in party politics during difficult times for the organization.

The appointment was confirmed in a press release signed by the party's Central Office Secretary, Mahmud Alam, on October 3. In the newly formed 17-member Jamalpur-Sherpur District Jatiya Party Organizational Coordination Committee, former Member of Parliament from Jamalpur's Sarishabari Mamunur Rashid Jowarder has been named Joint Convener, and Jamalpur District Jatiya Party Convener and industrialist Md. Zakir Hossain has been appointed Member Secretary.

Commenting on his new role, Convener Elias Uddin Chairman stated, "The Jatiya Party is a party for the common people. Because I love Pallibandhu Ershad, I have been associated with Jatiya Party politics for a long time. The party high command has entrusted me with a major responsibility."

He added, "I hope that, leaving behind all internal differences, we will work together with leaders and activists at all levels in the Jamalpur and Sherpur districts to restore the lost glory of the Jatiya Party."
