Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and Publicity & Media Secretary Advocate Ehsanul Mahboob Zubair has strongly condemned the targeted assassination of journalist Lutfuzzaman Alif Fakir in Durgapur, Netrokona, citing severe law and order deterioration across the country.

In a official press statement issued on Friday morning (October 16, 2026), Advocate Zubair expressed deep shock and protest over the killing. Lutfuzzaman Alif Fakir, the Netrokona district correspondent for private IPTV channel Ruposhi Bangla, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at approximately 8:00 PM on Thursday (October 15, 2026) while sitting at a shop in Telonjia Market along the Shyamganj-Birishiri road in Durgapur Upazila.

Denouncing the incident, Advocate Zubair stated that recurring homicides reflect a alarming decline in public safety, leaving ordinary citizens and working journalists exposed to extreme insecurity. Describing the shooting as a planned murder intended to intimidate media personnel, he demanded a thorough and swift police investigation to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He further offered prayers for the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Netrokona Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam and Durgapur Police Station OC Khandakar Shaker Ahmed Khan confirmed that multi-unit police drives are underway to apprehend the suspects.
