Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will refrain from blind opposition and actively support the government in its welfare-oriented and public interest initiatives, declared the party's Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar on Tuesday.
Speaking to journalists following an exchange meeting between Leader of the Opposition and Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and leaders of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) at the Opposition Leader's official residence, Mia Golam Parwar stated that the parliamentary opposition is adopting a constructive stance rather than opposing for the sake of opposition. A delegation led by BTMA Vice President Shafiqul Islam Sarkar met with Dr. Shafiqur Rahman to discuss key challenges and opportunities facing the primary textile and readymade garment (RMG) supply chain. Assuring the business leaders, the Jamaat Secretary General affirmed that while the opposition will offer full support to policy measures that benefit the nation and economy, it will firmly criticize, oppose, and resist any government actions that run counter to public interest. Senior Jamaat leaders including Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Huq Zubair, Dhaka South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Dhaka North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, and Executive Council Member Mobarak Hossain were present at the briefing.
