National Citizen Party (NCP) Spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has clarified his party's political stance regarding foreign policy, stating that their opposition is strictly directed against regional hegemony rather than any individual country.
Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled "Abrar Fahad: Delhi's Hegemony" organized at Dhaka University’s R. C. Majumdar Auditorium on Thursday afternoon (October 8, 2026) to mark the seventh death anniversary of martyr Abrar Fahad, Asif Mahmud noted that previous regimes surrendered national interests for foreign political backing.
Clarifying the NCP's ideological stance, he emphasized that Bangladesh must prioritize its own national interests, citing the eight core concepts of Abrar Fahad as the ideological foundation for anti-hegemonic politics in Bangladesh. Reflecting on his tenure during the 18-month interim government, Asif Mahmud recounted facing significant political pushback and propaganda while initiating youth self-defense training programs for 8,000 young citizens at BKSP centers.
Commenting on bilateral economic relations, including recent port operation agreements with DP World, he maintained that Bangladesh should engage in mutually beneficial agreements with any global partner—including India—provided national sovereignty and domestic interests are fully safeguarded.
