No Choice But to Take to Streets with Empty LPG Cylinders: NCP Leader Nasiruddin Patwari
National Citizen Party leaders addressing reporters during a press conference protesting the LPG price hike in Dhaka.

Senior Joint Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), Nasiruddin Patwari, has strongly criticized the government's recent decision to hike Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices, stating that government suffering has now reached citizens' kitchens. Speaking at a press conference outside the party's central office at Rupayan Trade Center on Monday night, November 2, 2026, Patwari warned that if the irrational price increase is not revoked, citizens will have no option but to take to the streets with empty gas cylinders.

The press conference was convened to protest the second LPG price hike within a 29-day period, which pushed the official tariff for a 12kg cylinder to ৳2,060. Patwari urged homemakers and residents across neighborhoods to initiate street protests and blockades holding empty gas cylinders, pots, and pans. He alleged that the government bypassed its own technical committee recommendations and public hearing outcomes to cater to the interests of three to four major importer company owners.

Addressing the ongoing readymade garment (RMG) worker protests, Patwari addressed government claims regarding external political instigation by characterizing it as a clear intelligence failure. He emphasized that administrative and intelligence shortcomings create opportunities for destabilizing elements, calling for immediate strengthening of intelligence agencies to secure the industrial belt.
