Parliament Whip and Shariatpur-3 MP Mia Nuruddin Ahammed Opu made the remark while urging all communities to maintain religious harmony and mutual respect during their respective festivals.He made the comments while speaking to reporters during an advance visit to the Poitkati Durga Temple in Dhankati Union under Damudya Upazila on Friday (October 9).Whip Opu noted that political leaders usually visit mandaps on the day of Puja, but following prime ministerial directives, lawmakers are making advance inspections to ensure all necessary preparations and security arrangements are in place for a smooth and peaceful Durga Puja.Emphasizing security measures, he called on local administration, law enforcement agencies, public representatives, and Puja celebration committees to work in close coordination to ensure safety and prevent any untoward incidents or rumors on social media. He stressed that Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony where people of all faiths have lived in harmony for generations.During his visit, Whip Opu distributed cash and rice at the temple. Later, at the upazila hall room, he handed over 500 dengue detection kits to Dr. Shah Alam Siddiqui, the officer-in-charge of family planning at Damudya Upazila Health Complex, funded under the upazila development budget.Damudya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Salahuddin Aiyubi, Damudya Police Station OC Jahangir Alam, and local political leaders accompanied the Whip during the visit.
