Prime Minister Tarique Rahman urged officials and employees of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to work sincerely toward making the capital clean, healthy, and liveable during an exchange of views at Nagar Bhaban on Monday (October 19, 2026). Stressing that no parent wants their children growing up in an unhealthy, germ-infested environment, the Prime Minister emphasized that children move across the entire city for school and recreation, meaning everyone must share responsibility for urban cleanliness. Highlighting that waste management challenges cannot be solved overnight, he pointed to international examples like London to encourage sustained effort, self-criticism, and personal initiative.

During his visit—accompanied by State Minister for LGRD Mir Shahe Alam, DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam, DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, and Senior Secretary Shahidul Hassan, and briefed by Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu—the Prime Minister also toured Nagar Bhaban's emergency operations centre. There, he reviewed real-time disaster, weather, air quality, and earthquake monitoring systems, observed cleanliness activities via Facebook Live, and reviewed urban development presentations.
