“Salahuddin Has Placed Prime Minister in Unfit Vehicle”: NCP Leader Hasnat Abdullah Blasts BNP over July Charter Allegations
NCP Leader Hasnat Abdullah MP delivering his speech during the July Charter review seminar at DRU.

Chief Organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and Member of Parliament Hasnat Abdullah launched a sharp critique against the governing BNP on Sunday (October 18, 2026), accusing the party of spreading deliberate falsehoods in Parliament and betraying the public over the July Charter.

Speaking at an open discussion titled "One Year Appraisal of Promises and Expectations of the July Charter"—organized by the Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU)—Hasnat Abdullah alleged that senior BNP leaders like Salahuddin Ahmed have compromised governance standards. Taking aim at executive functioning, Hasnat remarked: "Salahuddin Ahmed has placed the Prime Minister in an unfit vehicle—a move that might make the Prime Minister temporarily pleased, but raises serious questions about state machinery." He added that an effective government should not require the Prime Minister to personally inspect hospitals, clean waste, or oversee sidewalks, calling these actions evidence of institutional breakdown.

Hasnat further accused BNP of violating all 18 clauses of the July Charter and serving narrow commercial interests that disrupt state balance, explicitly naming business-political figures like Salahuddin Ahmed and Mir Shahe Alam. He asserted that post-August 5 entrants have assumed dominant ministerial roles while veteran BNP figures feel embarrassed to appear before media. The high-profile event was attended by top opposition figures, including Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, LDP President Col. (retd) Oli Ahmad Bir Bikram, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Amir Mamunul Huq, AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju, and Secretary General Barrister Asadouzzaman Fuaad.
