Protesters Stage Sit-In Outside Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader's Uttara Residence Demanding Arrest
Protesters demonstrating outside the Uttara residence of Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader in Dhaka on Monday, demanding his immediate arrest.

A group of protesters under the banner of "Anti-Autocracy Mass Public" (Swairachar Birodhi Sadharan Janagan) staged a protest march and sit-in demonstration in front of Jatiya Party Chairman Ghulam Muhammad Quader's (GM Quader) residence in Uttara, Dhaka, demanding his immediate arrest and prosecution.

Participating local students and citizens gathered outside GM Quader's house on Monday (October 12, 2026), occupying the adjacent street while chanting slogans against the Jatiya Party leadership. Holding banners depicting an incarcerated graphic of GM Quader, the demonstrators accused him of betraying the blood of the July-August uprising martyrs by maintaining clandestine communications with the ousted Awami League leadership and Sheikh Hasina in India.

Speakers at the rally pointed out that Jatiya Party had repeatedly provided political legitimacy to the previous autocratic government by participating in the past three national elections. Asserting that no accomplices of fascism will be permitted political rehabilitation in the new Bangladesh, the protesters called upon the government to immediately bring GM Quader under legal custody and face judicial trial.
