The passing of former Member of Parliament Salahuddin Ahmed is not only a loss for his immediate relatives but a profound set-back for the entire Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) family, stated Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator and Advisor to the BNP Chairman, Freedom Fighter Md. Abdus Salam.
Speaking on Wednesday (October 14, 2026) in front of the BNP Central Office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, during the second Namaz-e-Janaza of the late leader, Abdus Salam paid rich tribute to Salahuddin Ahmed's decades of political service and dedication to democratic movements. Highlighting a personal conversation held just two days prior to his passing, Abdus Salam revealed that Salahuddin Ahmed expressed no personal anxieties, focusing entirely on party affairs and his unfulfilled dream of constructing a modern community center and a hospital for the residents of his constituency.
In his address to the bereaved party leaders and activists gathered at Naya Paltan, Abdus Salam pledged to consult Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to ensure state cooperation in building the proposed community center and hospital. He also expressed strong confidence in the political capability of Ahmed Robin—Dhaka South BNP Member Secretary and son of the late lawmaker—to successfully lead local constituents and carry forward his father’s legacy.
