Italian club Como 1907 created UEFA Champions League history by becoming the first team ever to score 9 goals in an away match, demolishing French side RC Lens 9-1 at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Managed by former Spain international Cesc Fabregas, Como’s extraordinary performance in their debut Champions League campaign marks their third win in four matches, pushing them up to 4th place in the League Phase table.
Prior to this match, the record for most away goals scored in a single Champions League fixture was held by Bayern Munich, who defeated Barcelona 8-2 at a neutral venue in Lisbon in 2020. Como's 8-goal winning margin also equals the largest victory margin in the competition's history, joining Liverpool (8-0 vs. Besiktas) and Real Madrid (8-0 vs. Malmo).
