Following a narrow 3-wicket defeat to hosts Pakistan in the ODI Tri-Series final, the Sri Lankan national cricket team received bad news as the International Cricket Council (ICC) imposed a financial penalty for a slow over-rate offense.
The sanction, however, was not incurred during the final match, but rather during Thursday's group stage fixture against England in Lahore. Match Referee Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel imposed a 5% fine on players' match fees after Sri Lanka were found to be one over short of the target time after accounting for allowances.

The charges were officially leveled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Wayne Knights, and fourth umpire Nassir Hussain.
