Veteran international stars defied age expectations in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday, as 38-year-old Polish striker Robert Lewandowski netted a sensational hat-trick and 35-year-old Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne scored twice to lead their respective national teams to commanding victories.
In Group H action, Poland dismantled 10-man Romania in a 6-0 thrashing. Romania were reduced to 10 men in the 22nd minute when defender Radu Drăgușin received a red card for a foul inside the penalty box. Lewandowski converted the resulting spot-kick in the 24th minute, before adding two more goals in the 47th and 86th minutes to complete his seventh international hat-trick, extending his records for most caps (170) and goals (92) for Poland. Piotr Zieliński and Jan Bednarek also scored for Poland alongside an own goal.
Meanwhile in Group A, Belgium secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Turkey behind De Bruyne's double. The Napoli midfielder opened the scoring in the 10th minute following a crisp one-two with Dodi Lukébakio, before adding a second via a curling 59th-minute strike—marking his 200th career goal across club and international play. Striker Romelu Lukaku rounded out the scoring to secure all three points for Belgium.
