The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has sought Malaysia's strategic partnership to expand Bangladeshi exports and services across ASEAN markets while inviting Malaysian industrialists to invest in Bangladesh’s growing domestic economy.
During a business delegation visit to Kuala Lumpur on September 25–26, 2026, DCCI held separate bilateral forums with the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM). Speaking at the "Malaysia-Bangladesh Business Forum" organized by NCCIM, DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed highlighted high-potential export sectors including readymade garments, pharmaceuticals, IT services, electronics, jute products, and processed foods. NCCIM President Norsyahrin Bin Hamdin underscored Bangladesh's status as a vital South Asian trade partner, emphasizing opportunities for Malaysian consumer goods in Bangladesh's expanding middle-class market. DCCI Senior Vice President Rajib H. Chowdhury presented a keynote on bilateral investment potential.
In a separate session organized by FMM, President Jacob Lee Chor Kok lauded the crucial contribution of Bangladeshi workers toward Malaysia's economic and industrial progress over the past several decades. Marking a milestone in institutional cooperation, DCCI and FMM executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Taskeen Ahmed and Jacob Lee Chor Kok. The bilateral engagement featured over 70 business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking sessions between Bangladeshi and Malaysian entrepreneurs. The event was attended by Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, Senior Director at Malaysia's Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry Dr. Rashedi Said, and MATRADE Director Naim Abdul Rahman.
