State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has stated that the government was compelled to adjust and increase fuel oil prices due to unavoidable circumstances and global economic pressures. Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat, the state minister explained that maintaining heavy subsidies amidst ongoing international market volatility would severely cripple other vital sectors like social safety nets, education, and healthcare. He assured that the government remains committed to minimizing public suffering and vowed that domestic fuel prices will be swiftly revised downward as soon as the situation in the global market stabilizes.
