In a significant positive development for the country's energy sector, Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) has undertaken major initiatives to substantially boost domestic natural gas production.
According to official projections, an additional 45 million cubic feet of gas per day is expected to be added to the national grid within the next six months.
The initiative aims to ease mounting energy pressures on industrial units, power plants, and domestic consumers by maximizing output from existing gas fields through workover wells and technical optimization. Energy ministry officials expressed optimism that this increased domestic supply will significantly reduce reliance on costly liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports and stabilize the national energy supply chain.
