A mobile court has arrested a young man named Nader Ali (35) and sentenced him to two months of imprisonment alongside a financial fine during an anti-drug and online gambling drive in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi. The drive was conducted in the Khutipara and Shilmaria areas of the upazila on Wednesday (September 23, 2026). The convicted Nader Ali is the son of Abdul Kader from Khutipara village.
According to upazila administration sources, local residents had long been submitting written and verbal complaints regarding the escalation of drug sales, drug consumption, and online gambling in the Khutipara and Shilmaria areas. Acting on these reports to maintain law and order, authorities launched a drive where Nader Ali was caught red-handed. Subsequently, a mobile court sentenced him to two months in prison.
Puthia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shibu Das stated that no concessions will be made toward drug peddlers, addicts, or online gamblers who disrupt youth welfare and social order. He added that such strict anti-crime campaigns by the upazila administration will continue.
