The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 67 bottles of Indian liquor during a special anti-smuggling drive along the Nalitabari border in Sherpur.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Saturday (September 19) by a patrol team from the Ramchandrakura BOP under the Mymensingh Battalion 39 BGB in the Kalakuma border area of the upazila.
According to BGB, while patrolling the Kalakuma border area in Nalitabari upazila early Saturday morning, members of the Ramchandrakura BOP recovered 67 bottles of Indian liquor in an abandoned condition. The estimated market value of the seized liquor is approximately Tk 1,00,500. However, the BGB could not detain anyone during the operation.
Mymensingh Battalion 39 BGB Captain Lieutenant Colonel Nurul Amin Bayezid stated that the BGB maintains a 24-hour vigilant presence along the international borders of Mymensingh and Sherpur districts to prevent illegal infiltration, drug trafficking, and all forms of smuggling. He added that the BGB's strict stance and zero-tolerance policy regarding border security will continue in the future.
