In a series of special anti-narcotics operations conducted across Savar and Ashulia, the Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested 9 professional drug peddlers along with 258 pieces of Yaba tablets.
The arrests and details were officially confirmed on Thursday afternoon through a press release issued by Dhaka District North DB Inspector Saidul Islam, following operations carried out from the afternoon through the night of Wednesday (September 16).
Acting on instructions from District Superintendent of Police Shamima Parveen, a DB North team led by Inspector Saidul Islam apprehended six suspects—Md. Siam (20), Md. Masud (27), Md. Habibur Rahman alias Russell (30), Mohin Talukdar (30), Md. Robin (24), and Md. Sazib Khan—from the Tetuljhora area of Savar. Additionally, police arrested Mosammat Darjina Begum (35) from Porabari Bedepalli, Majeda Khatun (48) from Baktarpur, and Raihan Islam (24) from Nabinagar in Ashulia, recovering a total of 258 Yaba tablets from their possession.
DB Inspector Saidul Islam stated that formal cases have been filed against all the arrestees, and they were forwarded to court on Thursday afternoon. Police noted that among them, Habibur Rahman alias Russell faces a prior theft case.
