Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain has stated that the efforts of law enforcement agencies alone are not enough to control drugs, and the active cooperation of ordinary people is essential in this regard. Speaking as the chief guest at an exchange of views meeting with BNP leaders and activists in Birampur, Dinajpur, on Thursday (September 24) afternoon, he remarked that successful drug control is impossible for the police alone without public support.
Highlighting that drugs are destroying the youth, the Minister urged everyone to be aware and build a social movement against drugs to protect the future generation. He called upon citizens to assist law enforcement by providing information about drug dealers and traffickers, reiterating the government's "zero tolerance" stance against drugs and emphasizing that public awareness and combined community cooperation are key to overcoming this social menace. The meeting was attended by local public representatives, administrative officials, political leaders, and people from various professions.
