Fifteen-year-old SSC examinee Md. Rahat Hossain went out with his friends in the afternoon, promising to return home by evening, but he never came back. The following morning, his bicycle and a pair of shoes were found on the bank of the Padma River, quite far from his home. 45 days have passed since the incident, yet there is still no trace of Rahat.
On Thursday (September 24) afternoon, Rahat's father, farmer Md. Munnuch Ali, shared these details during a press conference at the Pabna Journalists' Union office. He expressed suspicion that Rahat may have been deliberately abducted rather than simply missing, and demanded a swift investigation to rescue Rahat alive.
Rahat is a resident of Vayna village in Sujanagar upazila, Pabna, and appeared in the 2026 SSC examination from Satbaria High School. While awaiting his results, he suddenly went missing on August 9.
At the press conference, Munnuch Ali stated that Rahat went out with friends on his bicycle on the afternoon of August 9 and was supposed to return by 7:00 PM. When he failed to return, searches among friends, relatives, and acquaintances yielded no results. The next morning, his bicycle and shoes were discovered near the Majpara Eidgah field adjacent to the Gopinpur graveyard by the Padma River in Manikhat union. Finding his belongings at such a distant location raised immediate suspicions within the family.
Munnuch Ali claimed that a CNG auto-rickshaw and several motorcycles were seen standing suspiciously in front of the Majpara Eidgah field between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM on the day Rahat went missing. He demanded an investigation into whether these vehicles had any connection to his disappearance. He stated, "We do not want to reach any conclusions on our own against anyone. Let law enforcement investigate and uncover the truth. My only demand is that my son be rescued alive and returned to us."
A General Diary (GD) was lodged at Sujanagar police station on August 10 regarding Rahat's disappearance, followed by an abduction case filed by his father on August 16. The family noted that the case is currently being investigated by the Detective Branch (DB) of the police. However, with no trace of Rahat even after 45 days, the family's anxiety has intensified, spending every day in suspense without knowing where or in what condition he is.
Regarding the matter, Pabna District Police Detective Branch (DB) OC Abdus Salam stated that they are working on the missing case with utmost importance, and various units of the district police are working day and night. Although he has not been found yet, they remain active and hopeful that locating him will be possible.
