Police have recovered two firearms and seven rounds of ammunition from a bamboo grove in Phultala upazila, acting on information provided by an arrestee in a murder case in Jashore's Abhaynagar upazila.
The recovery was made on Sunday evening around 7:30 pm from a spot where the weapons had been buried underground in Dakshinpara village. Police identified the arrested suspect as Ramzan, 22, apprehended in connection with a murder case filed at Abhaynagar Police Station.
Following Ramzan's confession, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Md. Nasir Uddin—under the instructions of Abhaynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nuruzzaman—conducted a raid at Sobhan Sardar’s bamboo grove. During the operation, authorities unearthed a 7.65-bore pistol, a domestic one-shooter gun, and seven rounds of ammunition.
Police records state the investigation stems from September 7, when the body of 43-year-old Md. Baharul Mollah was recovered with gunshot wounds from Ranagati village. Following the incident, the victim's brother filed a murder case at Abhaynagar Police Station. Police confirmed that the seized weapons and the suspect are in custody as legal procedures continue.
