An autovann driver, Torab Ali (60), was killed in a head-on collision with a shallow-engine-driven trolley in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna. The accident occurred around 2:00 PM on Tuesday (September 22) near the Dharail Bridge area under Haripur union. Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Oliur Rahman confirmed the incident.
The deceased, Torab Ali, was the son of the late Shukur Ali from Dharail village. Trolley driver Babu Hossain and helper Rana Ahmed were seriously injured in the accident and admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. According to locals, a maize-loaded trolley coming from the Haybatpur area of Natore collided head-on with Torab Ali's battery-operated autovann as he was returning after dropping off a female passenger near Dharail Bridge.
Torab suffered a broken left arm and severe injuries to his head and body. Locals rescued the injured and took them to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician declared Torab Ali dead. OC Oliur Rahman stated that police were dispatched to the scene and hospital, and legal procedures are underway.
