A community-led cleanliness and weed-clearing campaign along the embankments of Betagi upazila, Barguna, was launched on Saturday morning to foster a safe and tidy environment. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muh. Saddam Hossain inaugurated the drive around 11:00 AM near the Anor Jalisha sluice gate area in Hosnabad union, joined by Betagi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harun Or Rashid Hawlader, village police, local politicians, and residents.
Participating directly in the cleaning work, the UNO urged citizens to take personal responsibility by stating, "Clean at least one arm's length of space around you; everything is possible when everyone lends a hand."
Locals welcomed the initiative, noting that clearing long-standing weeds along the roadsides significantly improves both public movement and local aesthetics.
