Local journalists and professionals formed a human chain in front of the Savar Press Club on Saturday to protest what they termed a "false and motivated" bus-arson case filed against Kamru Khan, former president of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB).
Speakers at the protest claimed that the senior journalist has been living in Dhaka for years and had no involvement in the nighttime incident, accusing authorities of framing him to suppress the press. Savar Press Club executive member Azim Uddin, journalist Aklakur Rahman Akash, and Savar Upazila Journalists Association General Secretary Dewan Imon demanded the immediate withdrawal of his name from the case and a fair investigation.
The protest was attended by numerous prominent journalists, media workers, and civil society representatives from Savar.
