Speakers at a discussion meeting and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in Rangpur emphasized the effective implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2009 to ensure reliable information and combat misinformation in the digital age. Organized by the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) at the NGO Forum Auditorium on Sunday (September 27) to mark International Right to Information Day 2026, the program focused on the theme "Ensuring Accurate Information in the Digital Age: The Role of Right to Information in Preventing Misinformation." Chaired by Nitya Bikash Kendra Executive Director Rosy Begum, speakers including Daily Best News Rangpur Bureau Chief Farhaduzzaman Faruk and BELA Division Coordinator Tonmoy Kumar Sanyal noted that while social media and artificial intelligence accelerate news flow, they also spread disinformation, making official transparency and public awareness crucial for citizen empowerment and institutional accountability.
