Rangpur hosted its first-ever street mime festival on Saturday evening (September 26) at the Central Shaheed Minar near the Public Library, commemorating the death anniversary of world-renowned French mime artist Marcel Marceau under the slogan "Jago Bahe Konte Sobai." Organized by the Bangladesh Street Mime Council with the full cooperation of Muktibihanga Rangpur, the event featured a discussion chaired by Council Chairman Asbabir Rafsan and addressed by Rangpur City Corporation Administrator Advocate Mahfuz Un Nabi Chowdhury Don as the chief guest, alongside special guests including former Carmichael College Principal Mostafizur Rahman and other dignitaries. Following the discussion, prominent mime troupes from across the country—including Naogaon Mime Theatre, Silent Theatre, Kakashis Carmichael College, Puran from Chattogram, Muktibihanga, and Podatik—performed compelling thematic productions showcasing social issues, human struggles, and artistic expression through silence and physical gestures.
