Factory owners and local merchants organized a human chain program in the Pabna BSCIC Industrial Area on Sunday afternoon (September 27) under the banner of the Industry Owners Association, BSCIC Industrial Estate, Pabna, demanding the immediate removal and ultimate dismissal of Acting Deputy General Manager (DGM) Shamim Hossain over allegations of widespread irregularities, power abuse, and bribery. Demonstrators expressed deep anger during the event, stating that the accused official has been involved in corruption and illegal transactions for a long time. They demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the matter and exemplary punishment for his actions. Following the human chain, business leaders warned that if the controversial official is not transferred and terminated immediately, they will shut down all factories and mills across the Pabna BSCIC estate and launch a tougher, more intense protest movement. Key speeches were delivered by business leaders Jahurul Islam Bachchu and Abdus Salim, while NASIB President M. A. Mannan, Abdul Khalek, Md. Abdullah, Shafiqul Islam, Suk Chand, Bharat Ghosh, Professor Oliul Islam, and members of the BSCIC Mill Owners Convenor Committee joined nearly a hundred local factory owners and merchants to express solidarity. Meanwhile, the accused Acting DGM Shamim Hossain claimed he has no issues with regular traders, asserting that he does not consider the protesting individuals to be genuine factory owners or businessmen, and declined to make any further comments.
