In response to the long-standing demands of the residents of Ishwardi, a feasibility study has commenced for the construction of a flyover or underpass to alleviate daily traffic congestion and public suffering caused by train movements at the railway crossing. On Tuesday morning, a technical team from the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) inspected the rail gate area. The inspection was carried out at the initiative of Pabna-4 (Ishwardi-Atgharia) Member of Parliament Professor Abu Taleb Mondal.

The team, originating from the RHD Technical Services Wing at Sarak Bhaban in Tejgaon, Dhaka, arrived at the rail gate area around 10:30 AM. They examined the prospective locations for the proposed flyover or underpass, traffic patterns, the current layout of the rail gate, and the various difficulties faced by the public. The team was led by RHD Executive Engineer AKM Shafiquzzaman, accompanied by Sub-Divisional Engineer Khan Md. Raoha. MP’s Personal Assistant Mahফুজুর Rahman, local dignitaries, and journalists were also present during the inspection.

Local residents noted that a massive volume of people and vehicles cross the Ishwardi rail gate daily. With nearly 32 trains passing day and night, the gates remain closed for extended periods, creating severe traffic jams and considerable distress for commuters, pedestrians, and nearby residents. They have long demanded a permanent solution through the construction of a flyover or underpass.
