State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam, MP, has stated that this government will not be removed from power, having come through a long 15–16 year struggle with the support of the people. He noted that the government has a five-year mandate, after which the public will decide through elections whether it remains in power.
Addressing the 11-party alliance, the State Minister remarked that long-marches will yield no results, noting that if gas and electricity could be secured through long-marches, they would have done the same. He urged critics to give time and support the current administration. He made these remarks on Tuesday during a short public gathering at Borodorgah while inaugurating the much-anticipated repair work for the paved road from Borodorgah to Vhendabari, alongside two roads in Mithapukur, in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district.
According to relevant sources, thousands of residents had been suffering immensely due to the severely damaged condition of these roads. To address this, the government initiated the repair project under the supervision of the LGED through a sustainable infrastructure project aimed at enhancing adaptation and reducing disaster risk, with an allocation of approximately Tk 20.5 crore.
During the inauguration, Rangpur District BNP Convener and District Council Administrator Saiful Islam, Pirganj Upazila BNP President Mahmudunnabi Palash, General Secretary Zakir Hossain, and around 5,000 local leaders, activists, and citizens were present. Earlier in the day, State Minister Mir Shahe Alam visited Babonpur in Pirganj to offer prayers at the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayed and exchanged pleasantries with his family members.
