A fire broke out at a garment factory's jute warehouse and an adjacent market near Tropical Nitex Limited in the Chandra Palli Bidyut area of Kaliakair upazila, Gazipur, amid ongoing worker protests. Two units of the fire service are heading to the scene to bring the blaze under control.

Tarekul Islam, Station Officer of the Kaliakair Fire Service, confirmed the information on Sunday (November 1) afternoon.

However, he could not definitively state how the fire originated. Due to the disruption of vehicular movement on the highway caused by the worker protests, the fire service faced severe hurdles, forcing them to proceed to the scene via the wrong lane of the highway under the escort of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

He stated that upon receiving information about the fire at the jute warehouse of the Tropical Nitex Limited garment factory in the Chandra Palli Bidyut area of Kaliakair, two fire service units departed for the scene.
