Shahin Mia, former acting chairman and elected UP member of Ward No. 9 of Goalabazar Union Parishad in Osmani Nagar upazila, Sylhet, as well as the fisheries secretary of the upazila BNP, has passed away. He breathed his last on Friday (September 25) around 10:00 AM while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sylhet city.
The late Shahin Mia was a resident of Kalarai village in Goalabazar Union and the son of the late Azma Ullah, having served twice as a UP member.
According to family sources, Shahin Mia had been suffering from a complex illness for a long time. As his physical condition deteriorated, he was admitted to a private hospital in Sylhet, where he passed away on Friday morning.
Upon the spread of the news of his death, a deep shadow of grief descended among his political colleagues, public representatives, well-wishers, and people from all walks of life. His funeral prayer (Janaza) was held on Friday at 5:15 PM at the Kalarai Shahi Eidgah ground, following which he was laid to rest at the Kalarai Bazar graveyard.
