The upazila administration arrested four individuals on charges of consuming Yaba in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur. Subsequently, a mobile court sentenced each of them to six months of imprisonment and fined them one thousand Taka each.
The drive was conducted on Thursday (September 24) night in the Thanapara area of Ward No. 9 of Mathbaria Municipality, led by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Ataur Rabbi. According to the upazila administration, the raid was carried out based on a tip-off, during which the four individuals were caught red-handed consuming Yaba.
Following their appearance before the mobile court, the presiding magistrate handed down the penalties. UNO Ataur Rabbi stated that operations against drugs will continue and strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in drug-related activities.
