Three members of a single family—Abdul Mannan, his wife Swapna Begum, and their son Md. Suman Mia (29) from the Adampara area of Paotana Hat in Pirgachha upazila, Rangpur—have fully recovered after receiving 16 days of treatment for cutaneous anthrax at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Kholahati Cantonment, Parbatipur.
Admitted on September 2 with skin and finger lesions, the patients were diagnosed with cutaneous anthrax by the on-duty medicine specialist, who promptly notified local health and livestock authorities as well as the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR). Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of anthrax in all three samples, but following dedicated medical care, they were discharged in stable condition. Parbatipur Upazila Health Complex RMO Dr. Harunuzzaman Pavel confirmed their successful recovery and return home.
