Police have arrested the accused husband, Kanak Roy (27), in connection with the beating death of a housewife named Falguni Rani (20) over dowry demands in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur. The incident took place in Chhotanarayanpur village under Monmothpur union of Parbatipur. The deceased Falguni was the daughter of Nabakanta Roy from Kismatpur Ghatabil Pasaripara under Ramnathpur union of Rangpur's Badarganj upazila.

According to reports, Falguni was married to Kanak Roy of Chhotanarayanpur village about two years ago, and the couple has a five-month-old daughter named Kanika Rani. The victim's family alleged that Falguni had been subjected to continuous physical and mental torture over dowry demands ever since her wedding. In-laws frequently assaulted her and prevented her from visiting her paternal home for a long time.

Family members stated that on Tuesday morning, an argument broke out between Falguni and her in-laws over a family matter. At one point, she was brutally beaten with sticks and iron rods, leaving her severely injured. Realizing her critical condition, the in-laws initially took Falguni to Lamb Hospital in Parbatipur, where the on-duty doctor advised transferring her urgently to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. However, Falguni succumbed to her injuries on the way to Rangpur. Meanwhile, in an attempt to cover up the incident, the in-laws initially informed her paternal home that she had been injured in a road accident, only for the family to discover her death upon reaching the hospital.
