International Right to Information Day was observed in Pabna with the resolve of ensuring the right to information, good governance, and accountability.
Marking the occasion, a discussion meeting was held on Monday afternoon at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner, organized by the Pabna District Administration. The meeting was presided over by Pabna Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam.
Speeches were delivered at the discussion meeting by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Moniruzzaman, Assistant Superintendent of Police Arjuma Akter, Pabna Press Club President Akhteruzzaman Akhter, Bangla TV District Representative SM Alam, and Senior District Information Officer Samiul Alam, along with leaders of various political, social, and cultural organizations.
Speakers at the event said that ensuring the public's right to know information further increases the transparency and accountability of government and private institutions. The Right to Information Act plays a crucial role in establishing good governance and preventing corruption. The speakers emphasized raising general public awareness about this right and facilitating access to information in government offices.
Officials from various government and non-government institutions, journalists, and representatives of political, social, and cultural organizations were present at the discussion meeting.
