With the theme "Together, stronger: Let's build a rabies-free world," World Rabies Day was observed in Pabna, much like across the country.
Marking the day, a colorful rally was brought out on Monday morning from in front of the District Civil Surgeon's office. The rally paraded through the main roads of the town and concluded back at the District Civil Surgeon's office.
Later, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the office. Presided over by District Civil Surgeon Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, the discussion meeting was addressed by Dr. Aminul Haque, Dr. Rafia Afrozon, and other officials from the health department.
Speakers at the meeting said that although rabies is a fatal disease, it can be prevented through timely and necessary medical treatment and vaccination. Particularly when bitten by animals such as dogs, the wound must be cleaned promptly, and rabies vaccines must be taken according to a doctor's advice. The speakers called upon everyone to work together to eradicate rabies by raising public awareness and properly vaccinating animals.
