BARISHAL — The mournful horns are back on the Meghna. After a week of dense fog that stranded thousands, BIWTA has resumed launch services on 14 southern routes with new radar-guided night navigation.
Sadarghat erupted in relief as the first Barishal-bound triple-decker, MV Sundarban-14, departed with 2,000 passengers. 'I missed my daughter's wedding. Today I will at least make the reception,' said tearful passenger Hosne Ara.
BIWTA said all vessels now carry fog lights, GPS trackers and double masters for night runs — 'never again will fog hold the south hostage,' officials pledged.
