Madrasa Student Drowns While Bathing in Boalkhali Pond

A 12-year-old madrasa student, Ayatul Islam Saihan, drowned while taking a bath in a pond in the Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram on Sunday afternoon (September 20).

The incident occurred around 1:00 PM in Charandwip Union. Saihan was rushed to the Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex emergency department, where the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.

Saihan, a fifth-grade student at Fateakhil Allama Hafez Muhammad Bazlur Rahman (R.) Sunni Noorani Ebtedayee Madrasa, was the second son of expatriate Osman from the Jaishtapura Fateakhil area of Sreepur-Kharandwip Union.

Sreepur-Kharandwip Union Parishad Panel Chairman Md. Hasan Chowdhury confirmed that Saihan was visiting his maternal grandfather's house in Charandwip Union when he slipped underwater while bathing in the pond. Dr. Kanta Adhikari, the attending physician at the Upazila Health Complex, stated that the boy had passed away prior to reaching the hospital.
