Police have arrested Mostafa Pramanik (50), the prime mastermind behind the brutal murder of 10-year-old schoolgirl Kamrun Nahar Koli in Kulunia village, Pabna Sadar Upazila. Police stated that due to investigative necessities, details surrounding the motive and execution of the murder cannot be disclosed at this moment.
Following his detention on the day of the incident (September 16) and subsequent interrogation where he confessed to his involvement, Mostafa was formally shown arrested on Thursday (September 17).
Confirming the development, Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam stated that Mostafa carried out the killing and has been placed under arrest. He noted that the initial abduction case filed by the victim's father has now been converted into a murder case, while investigations regarding potential sexual assault are ongoing.
Meanwhile, teachers, students, and guardians formed a human chain in front of the Pabna Press Club on Thursday morning under the auspices of the Bangladesh Kindergarten Association, Pabna branch, demanding swift and severe punishment for all perpetrators.
Carrying placards reading "We Want the Right to Live," "We Will Not Tolerate Conspiracies Against Our Rights," "We Want Implementation of Child Rights Laws," and "We Want Justice for Koli's Murder," young students, teachers, and parents joined the protest. Speakers condemned the horrific crime, warning that rising lawlessness and impunity are triggering repeated atrocities and urging immediate judicial intervention.
The body of Kamrun Nahar Koli, who went missing after leaving her home on the evening of September 9, was recovered packed inside a sack from a ditch near her house in Kulunia village, Dogachhi union, Pabna Sadar, on Wednesday morning (September 16) after seven days of disappearance.
