Police have recovered the body of an elderly man named Abdul Wahid from the Mashukhali canal in Osmaninagar upazila, Sylhet. On Thursday (September 24) afternoon, local fishermen spotted the body in the Mashukhali canal in Islampur village under the upazila's Sadiupur union and informed the police, who later recovered it with the assistance of locals.

The deceased, Abdul Wahid, was the son of the late Shamsher Ullah from Khosrupur village in Sadiupur union. Relatives stated that he had been suffering from mental imbalance for a long time. According to locals and family sources, Abdul Wahid went to his maternal uncle Abdul Halim's house in Islampur village on Wednesday (September 23) around 4:00 PM. After having dinner there at night, around 10:30 PM, he sat under a tree near the Mashukhali canal beside the house and had been missing since.

Around 2:00 PM on Thursday, some local fishermen saw a body floating in the waters of the Mashukhali canal and informed the locals. Upon receiving the news, police arrived at the scene and recovered the body. Later, the relatives of the deceased arrived and identified the body as that of Abdul Wahid.
