An application for a General Diary (GD) has been filed with the Nazirpur Police Station in Pirojpur, accusing individuals of stealing oil from a 10 KVA transformer installed near the Shekhmatia Bazar arsenic-free water supply plant.
The application was submitted to the Officer-in-Charge of Nazirpur Police Station on September 14 by Md. Abdul Hannan, Assistant Enforcement Coordinator of the Pirojpur Palli Bidyut Samity Nazirpur Zonal Office.
According to the application, on September 11 at around 10:00 AM, Palli Bidyut officials inspected the site following complaints of a power outage connected to the transformer. Upon inspection, they found the HT lead of the transformer cut and the nut-bolts of the top cover loosened. Opening the cover revealed that while the inner coils were intact, the oil level was significantly lower than normal.
When local inquiries were made, night guard Md. Khokon reportedly told officials that on the night of September 10, a local resident named Liakat Bepari removed the top cover of the transformer and extracted approximately two liters of oil. The application further stated that the accused offered one liter of the stolen oil to the night guard to keep the incident under wraps before leaving the scene.
Due to interrupted power supply and to ensure consumer safety, the transformer was subsequently uninstalled and brought to the Nazirpur Zonal Office. The Palli Bidyut authorities have urged the police station's Officer-in-Charge to investigate the complaint and take necessary legal action against those involved.
However, immediate comments from the accused, Liakat Bepari, could not be obtained. Police stated that the exact cause and truth behind the allegations will be confirmed following a thorough investigation.
