A new 27-member managing committee has been formed for the traditional Kotalpur Darul Quran Hafizia Madrasa located in No. 1 Umerpur union of Osmaninagar upazila in Sylhet. The committee was recently formed with the cooperation of local residents.
In the newly formed committee, Haji Abdul Kuddus has been named president, Hafez Abdul Mohit as general secretary, and Md. Sabul Ahmed as treasurer.
According to madrasa sources, established in 1987 through local initiative, the Kotalpur Darul Quran Hafizia Madrasa has played a vital role in propagating Quranic and Islamic education in the area for nearly four decades. To expand student facilities, residential arrangements were introduced at the institution starting in 2024. Currently, around 60 to 70 students are studying residually completely free of cost.
Newly elected President Haji Abdul Kuddus stated that their primary goal is to modernize the madrasa and ensure free Islamic education for children from underprivileged families, seeking the cooperation of all strata of society. Meanwhile, the authorities have invited prospective students and guardians interested in availing free residential facilities to contact the madrasa administration.
