A special website named 'Save Rangpur' has been launched with the goal of building a safe Rangpur. Through this website, citizens can anonymously forward important information regarding criminals and crimes to law enforcement agencies. The website (and app) was inaugurated by administrative officials during an event held on Thursday (September 24) afternoon at the Rangpur District Shilpakala Academy.
Speaking at the event, Al Mamun, the founder and chief coordinator of 'Save Rangpur', stated that it is crucial to ensure the safety and civic rights of the general people of Rangpur while building a conscious and responsible society. Many people hesitate to provide crime-related information due to concerns over personal security or the disclosure of their identity. Therefore, 'Save Rangpur' has been created to provide an opportunity to share information while keeping identities confidential. The information provided by citizens will be forwarded to the administration, aiding in crime prevention and the improvement of the law and order situation. The website allows users to report various crimes such as drug trafficking, theft, mugging, terrorism, teen delinquency, and eve-teasing.
He further added that those who wish to advance 'Save Rangpur' should cooperate with accurate information. Many people are aware of drug dealing, extortion, or other criminal activities near their homes but cannot go directly to the administration, often fearing they might become witnesses or face subsequent complications. Considering these factors, this website (and app) has been launched.
Speakers at the event noted that building a safe city is not possible for the administration alone. If ordinary citizens, alongside law enforcement agencies, report crime information from their respective positions and play a conscious role, it will be much easier to build a safe and peaceful Rangpur.
Distinguished guests who addressed the event included Additional Superintendent of Police of Rangpur District Sharif Mohammad Farukuzzaman, Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Jobayer Islam, Rangpur Journalists' Union President Salekuzzaman Salek, Rangpur Chamber of Commerce Director Partha Bose, Department of Narcotics Control Inspector S. M. Eltas Uddin, and Rangpur Motor Owners Association General Secretary Wasim Bari Raj, among others.
