Railway police have arrested a drug peddler along with five kilograms of cannabis (ganja) from the Parbatipur railway station in Dinajpur. The arrestee has been identified as Arif Hossain (24), son of Mujibor Mia from Shaulmari village under Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat district.
According to reports, during an anti-narcotics drive on Wednesday morning at around 7:30 AM, Railway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sakhawat Hossain along with accompanying force detained Arif Hossain near the stairs of the foot overbridge between platforms 2 and 3 of the Parbatipur railway station. The seized cannabis has an estimated illegal market value of Tk 1.5 lakh.
Parbatipur Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahmud Un Nabi confirmed that a case has been filed against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act at the railway police station, and he has been forwarded to the cognizant court.
